Things To Do In Isla Mujeres
Isla Mujeres has an entrancing setup: an island paradise where you can engage in both bone-deep relaxation as well as unforgettable outdoor adventures and cultural experiences. Leisure here can take many forms, from lounging on postcard-worthy Caribbean beaches to world-class ecotourism on and off the water.
With a luxurious home base at the adults-only beachside resort of Privilege Aluxes, you’ve got the ideal launch pad for leisure on this special isle just a stone’s throw from Cancún. Here are some ideas to get your trip-planning engines revving…
Concierge Activities Out of Privilege Aluxes
There’s so much to see and do on Isla Mujeres—an officially designated Pueblo Mágico, or “Magical Town”—which also serves as an easy jumping-off point for explorations out on the gleaming Caribbean and amid the reef and rainforest glories of the adjoining Yucatán Peninsula. Our Privilege Aluxes concierge services can help you figure out what you’d like to do and see during our stay with us.
Many of our guests like to spend as much time as possible on Isla Mujeres beaches, and we can’t say we blame them. The snorkeling and scuba diving on our island, though, are both exceptional as well, as we’ve written about before here at the Privilege Aluxes blog. That includes explorations of our local reefs—which lie at the northern fringe of the Great Mayan Reef (more technically known as the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System), one of the great coral complexes in the world—as well as some submarine sculpture appreciation at the Museo Subaquático de Arte (MUSA), also known as the Cancun Underwater Museum. In the summer months, Isla Mujeres is one of the best places in the world to swim with the biggest fish on Earth, the gorgeous and gentle whale shark, which congregates in epic numbers in local waters that time of year. Both above- and below-water attractions define the nearby Isla Contoy, meanwhile, fully protected as a national park.
You might also opt to sample some of the fabulous sportfishing available off Isla Mujeres, whether inshore or deep-sea casting. Among the fabled quarry in our waters are marlin, bonito, wahoo, snapper, dorado, and barracuda. Then there’s sailing and kayaking—well, the list goes on and on!
Take a Tour During Your Privilege Aluxes Getaway
Our concierge services can also help arrange guided tours on and off Isla Mujeres. Such outings might include visits to such nearby island attractions as the Tortugranja Turtle Farm, which offers up-close looks at native sea turtles, and the Park of Sculptures on the south end of Isla Mujeres near the Cliff of Dawn. They might also take the shape of trips to the Yucatán mainland, including diving adventures in the peninsula’s world-famous cenotes and sightseeing at the great Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, one of the world’s foremost archaeological sites.
Isla Mujeres and its tropical surrounds are truly magical, and there’s no better way to experience them than with a luxury escape to Privilege Aluxes!
